As the Pride host the West Coast side, here are five things to watch for:
Riding the Wave
The Pride have had the upper hand in recent meetings with San Diego, entering Friday's match unbeaten in their last five NWSL contests against the Wave. Orlando has outscored San Diego 7-3 during that stretch and has not suffered a league loss to the Wave since August 2023. The run includes a 1-0 victory in the first meeting between the clubs this season on May 24, when defender Nicole Payne scored the first goal of her professional career.
Coast-to-Coast Consistency
Haley McCutcheon continued her career-best campaign with a brace against Bay FC on Sunday, scoring two of Orlando's three goals in the victory. The midfielder became the first player in NWSL history to score within the opening two minutes of both halves of a regular-season match. McCutcheon has also found plenty of success against California opposition throughout her career, with more than half of her regular-season goals (6 of 11) coming against clubs from the Golden State.
100 for Abello
Kerry Abello became just the third player in club history to make 100 regular-season appearances for the Pride when she entered Sunday's match against Bay FC. The defender joined teammates Marta and Haley McCutcheon as the only players to reach the milestone and has appeared in every regular season for Orlando since being selected by the club in the 2021 NWSL Draft.
Three Straight, Seeking Four
The Pride have won each of their last three regular-season matches against San Diego and can tie the longest regular-season winning streak against a single opponent in club history with a victory on Friday. Orlando has lost just once in nine all-time regular-season meetings with the Wave (6W-1L-2D), while the club's longest regular-season winning streak against a single opponent stands at four matches, achieved against both the Houston Dash (2023-25) and Washington Spirit (2023-24).
On International Duty
Several Pride players are set to represent their countries during the upcoming international window, highlighting the club's global presence across both the senior and youth levels. Angelina (Brazil), Jacquie Ovalle (Mexico), Ohiane (Spain), Barbra Banda (Zambia) and Solai Washington (Jamaica) have all earned senior national team call-ups, while Ally Lemos (United States U-23) and Sanne Lekven (Norway U-23) will join their respective youth national teams.
Milestone Tracker:
- Jacquie Ovalle’s next goal will be her fifth across all competitions with the Pride.
- Haley McCutcheon is two goals’ away from scoring her 15th across all competitions with the Pride. She will become the fifth player in club history to achieve the feat.
