The Story:

  • The Orlando Pride and North Carolina Courage played to a 1-1 draw in the opening Group E match of the 2024 Summer Cup. The Courage would take an extra point on the night by winning the end-of-regulation shootout, 5-4. Celia scored her first goal of the 2024 season as the Pride's lone scorer.
  • For the first time in Club history, the Pride will take on Liga MX Femenil opponent C.F. Monterrey Femenil. The match will be the second Group E match for both clubs, with Monterrey falling to Racing Louisville 3-1 in its first Summer Cup match.
  • Three Pride players achieved milestones in the match against the Courage. Goalkeeper McKinley Crone got the start in net earning her professional debut, while Evelina Duljan and Claire Winter came in as second-half substitutes marking their NWSL debuts.

Quote of the Week:
“Overall, it is going to be a great experience for the players and the Club. It is something that hasn’t happened before, so I am excited to see how we match up against a team outside of the NWSL. I think it shows the growth of the league as well. It is going to be a little bit unpredictable. It is tough after just seeing them [C.F Monterrey] play one game against NWSL opposition. The main focus is on us and being back at home because it has been a while since we have been back home in front of our own fans. Overall, we are just excited for the matchup.”
- Head Coach Seb Hines
