Hitting The Road
Orlando City B will make its first trip away from Osceola County Stadium in the 2025 regular season as the team travels to North Carolina to take on Crown Legacy FC in the first of a two-game road trip. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 26. The second match of the road trip will see the Lions travel back north to Tennessee for a showdown in the Volunteer State against current Eastern Conference leaders Chattanooga FC. OCB started out unbeaten in its first two road games last season and will look to duplicate those results, beginning with that matchup against Crown Legacy FC on Wednesday night.
Called Up
Homegrown Goalkeeper Javier Otero made his first career start and recorded his first career win for the Lions’ First Team last Saturday night against D.C. United. With Goalkeeper Pedro Gallese out on international duty with his native Peru, Otero stepped up big for the Lions, recording four saves and conceding only one goal in his first start for Orlando City. The Venezuelan international joined the Orlando City Academy in 2017 and made his way to Orlando City B in 2020, before signing an MLS deal with Orlando City SC in 2023.
A First for Everything
Orlando City B’s win against Atlanta United 2 last Sunday featured a first for many of the young Lions. Forward Justin Ellis and Orlando City midfielder Shak Mohammed both scored their first goals of the season, their third and 18th all-time across all competitions, respectively. In addition, defender Zakaria Taifi and midfielder Jhon Solís recorded their first assists of the 2025 campaign, marking their second and 11th all-time across all competitions, respectively. The match against the Five Stripes also saw the first end-of-regulation shootout of the 2025 regular season for the Lions, in which they prevailed 4-1 and took the extra point from the match.
Splitting the Series
Since the teams’ first meeting in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro regular season, Orlando City B and Crown Legacy FC’s series record is even at 2-2-1. Both sides sport two wins each versus the opposition with a draw last season denying an advantage in either team’s favor. The Lions currently hold a slight advantage in goals scored in the series with 11 to Crown Legacy FC’s 10, but Orlando City B will look to gain the edge in the win column with a victory over its Eastern Conference foes on Wednesday.
