Slaying the Giant
Last Sunday, Orlando City B secured its biggest win of the season thus far, as the young Lions took down the league-leading Chattanooga FC at Osceola County Stadium via a 2-1 scoreline. Chattanooga came into the match as the Eastern Conference and MLS NEXT Pro leaders, but OCB let its performance on the field do the talking as a goal in second-half stoppage time proved the decisive factor in the thrilling win over the team from the Volunteer State. With the win, the Lions jumped up to sixth place in the Eastern Conference, sitting at 17 points and just two points behind Huntsville City FC in third, who Orlando will face on the road on Friday evening.
No Better Time Than Now
“You couldn’t have scripted this any better.” That’s what comes to mind when midfielder Noah Levis’ first career goal for Orlando City B happened to serve as the game winner in second-half stoppage time to take down the top team in the league. Despite the match against Chattanooga FC marking just his second ever appearance for the Lions, the Boston native midfielder made the most of his opportunity after coming on as a substitute in the 71st minute. With both sides tied at a goal a piece heading into second-half stoppage time, Levis found himself in prime position in front of goal following a stellar assist from Academy midfielder Justin Hylton after a deflection off the Chattanooga goalkeeper. With his first touch, Levis slotted the ball into the bottom right corner of the net with his right foot, all but securing the upset victory for the Lions.
King of the “Hyl”
The late game heroics against Chattanooga FC included another piece of history with Academy midfielder Justin Hylton providing the assist on Noah Levis’s game-winner. Hylton, who had stepped on the pitch to make his Orlando City B debut just three minutes prior, found himself in the right place at the right time to record his first career goal contribution for the MLS NEXT Pro side and see the Lions prevail past their Southeast Division foes. After a deflection off the Chattanooga goalkeeper on the right side of the goal fell to the cutting Academy product, Hylton was able to deliver a pinpoint pass to Levis in front of goal, despite momentum carrying him out of bounds on the assist.
Orlando City Connection
Fellow Orlando City midfielders Shak Mohammed and Favian Loyola found themselves in the Starting XI for the first time in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro regular season. The duo had shared the field for Orlando City B just two times this season prior to Sunday’s match but were able to link up for an early Lions goal in the victory over Chattanooga FC. After Loyola picked off an errant pass from the opposition, he quickly played the ball to Mohammed who found the back of the net with a first touch strike to give the Lions a one goal lead in the 12th minute. The goal for Mohammed served as his seventh of the season and 24th all-time for the young Lions and the assist for Loyola served as his first of the season and sixth all-time for OCB.
