Litmus Test

The young Lions will have an opportunity to prove their mettle when they take on Chattanooga FC at Osceola County Stadium on Sunday evening. Chattanooga FC currently sits atop both the Eastern Conference and the overall MLS NEXT Pro standings coming into Matchweek 12. Sunday’s contest will be a rematch of an early April encounter between the two sides, with OCB looking to get revenge for a 2-0 loss in the Volunteer State.

Getting Started

Midfielder Bernardo Rhein was a part of the Lions’ Starting XI for the first time in his Orlando City B career last Sunday against Atlanta United 2. Rhein has now made seven overall appearances for OCB since the start of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro regular season following Sunday’s start. The 17-year-old Academy product recently signed his first professional contract with Orlando City B in February.

Defending Home Turf

Sunday evening will be the final home match before Orlando City B hits the road for a two-game road trip, starting with Huntsville City FC on June 6 and then Carolina Core FC on June 11. With a 3-1-1 record at Osceola County Stadium this season, OCB ranks among the best teams at home; no other side has registered more than four wins at their home ground so far this season.

Representing the Red, White & Blue

Fresh off a Generation adidas Cup title in April, the tournament’s Golden Boot winner and forward Justin Ellis, midfielder Colin Guske and defender Jackson Platts were called up to the United States Youth National Team’s U-18 side for the UEFA Friendship Cup in Switzerland. The tournament will take place May 30 through June 11 in Nyon, Switzerland with the United States set to face France, Argentina and Australia in group play. So far in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro regular season, Ellis has scored three goals and recorded three assists, with Guske and Platts making six and eight appearances for Orlando City B, respectively. The young Lions trio has also gained experience in MLS in 2025, with Guske making three appearances and Ellis appearing once for the First Team this season.
