Brace for Impact

Orlando City’s Round of 32 match in the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against the Tampa Bay Rowdies saw a familiar OCB face make a name for himself in the 5-0 tromping of the intrastate rival. In his first career start for the First Team, young Lions’ midfielder Gustavo Caraballo recorded a first-half brace for City, with the two goals coming in a span of just two minutes, as he found the back of the net in the 34th and 36th minutes. With the two-goal performance, the Homegrown midfielder became the youngest player in Orlando City history to score a goal, while also becoming the youngest player in City history to record a brace at 16 years, 252 days old.

Saturday's Citrus Showdown

Saturday night’s showdown between intrastate rivals Orlando City B and Inter Miami CF II will be the second meeting of the season for the two sides. In April, OCB made the trip down to Bradenton to face the Herons but ultimately fell 3-2. This time around, Miami will travel up to Kissimmee as the young Lions look to even up the season series. Orlando City defender Tahir Reid-Brown and midfielder Shak Mohammed both scored in the match, with Reid-Brown striking in the 23rd minute and Mohammed converting a penalty kick in the 11th minute of second-half stoppage time.

Debut Day

Wednesday was a great day for Orlando City B forward Justin Ellis. Not only was it his 18th birthday, but it was also the day in which he made his Orlando City debut in the First Team’s 3-1 win over Charlotte FC, entering the match as a second-half substitute, completing a successful last month for the striker. Ellis provided his first assist for OCB in the Club’s last match at Chicago Fire FC II, assisting leading scorer Shak Mohammed on his goal, and also won the Golden Boot at Generation adidas Cup in the Orlando City Academy U-18 side’s run to winning the tournament with six goals.

High Five

Five, that’s how many goals Orlando City midfielder Shak Mohammed has for the young Lions in 2025. In addition to his goal in the team’s last match in Chicago, Mohammed has scored in five of the first seven games for OCB, including scoring in back-to-back games on two separate occasions. The Ghana international has built upon his Club leading scoring form from last season, adding to his 11-goal output in 2024. Mohammed currently sits tied for third in goals scored in MLS NEXT Pro this year, and sits at 22 career goals for OCB, good for second all-time in Club history.
