Here are five storylines to watch on Sunday as the Lions head south to take on Inter Miami:

Knocking on the Door

With the 3-1 victory over Charlotte FC at Inter&Co Stadium on Wednesday night, Orlando City extended its unbeaten streak to 11 games across all competitions, just one match shy of the Club record of 12 straight. The Lions have scored 22 goals during their 11-game unbeaten streak while only conceding eight. A win or draw on Sunday against intrastate rivals Inter Miami CF would see Orlando City tie the Club record going into next week’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Nashville SC in the Round of 16.

Sunshine State Showdown

Just 179 miles separate Inter&Co Stadium and Chase Stadium, the home of Inter Miami CF and the setting of Sunday night’s rivalry match between the Lions and the Herons. The matchup will be the first of two regular-season meetings in the 2025 campaign, with Inter Miami set to make the trip north to the City Beautiful in August. Orlando City holds a slight advantage in the all-time series record, sitting at 5-4-4 overall. Orlando City enters the Sunday Night Soccer matchup trailing Inter Miami by just one point in the standings, with the Lions sitting in sixth in the Eastern Conference with 21 points compared to the Herons’ 22 points in fifth place, making Sunday night one that could set the tone in the table until the next meeting in August.

Catching Fíre

To follow up his three-goal performance last Saturday night, midfielder Martín Ojeda added another to his account with a 24th-minute goal in City’s 3-1 victory over Charlotte FC on Wednesday. With the first-half goal, Ojeda upped his scoring tally to eight on the season, which moved him up into a tie for third-most goals scored so far in MLS in the 2025 campaign. Ojeda’s goal also saw him enter a tie with former City forward Tesho Akindele for eighth all-time across all competitions in Orlando City history with 21 goals for the Club. The Argentina international now sits just one goal shy of seventh all-time for the Lions, behind former City forward Chris Mueller (22).

Brekalo Breaks Through

Defender David Brekalo came into the midweek match against Charlotte FC without an assist on his career tally for Orlando City but left the stadium Wednesday night with two helpers to go along with the Eastern Conference victory. The first of Brekalo’s two assists came early in the match, as the Slovenia international was awarded the secondary assist on Luis Muriel’s eighth-minute strike, heading the ball to midfielder César Araújo who then flicked the ball to Muriel to put the Lions up 1-0. The second of Brekalo’s two assists was direct as he delivered a cutting through ball to a sprinting Ramiro Enrique who then dribbled past the Charlotte defense and tucked it under the cross bar for Orlando’s third of the night.

Approaching the Century Mark

Forward Iván Angulo has already passed 100 appearances in his career with Orlando City but currently sits just one away from hitting the century mark in a different way. An appearance in the Lions’ match against Inter Miami CF on Sunday in Fort Lauderdale would be Angulo’s 100th consecutive MLS match for Orlando City, across both the regular season and the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. The path to the milestone started back in the 2023 campaign and has continued up to this point in the 2025 season. In addition to being an iron man for the Lions, the Colombian winger has provided 12 goals and 25 assists in 112 appearances across all competitions since arriving in Orlando in July of 2022.

Milestone Tracker:

- Duncan McGuire (27) sits fourth on Orlando City’s all-time scoring list and is four goals away from tying former captain Nani (31) across all competitions for third.

- A win or draw would extend the Lions’ current unbeaten streak to 12 matches across all competitions.

- Iván Angulo is one appearance away from 100 consecutive in MLS competition.
