Here are five storylines to watch for Saturday's return home to host the Houston Dynamo:

Breaking the Balance

The Lions are set to welcome Western Conference foes, Houston Dynamo FC, on Saturday night at Inter&Co Stadium. The series record between the two sides is pretty even with the Lions holding a 2-2-3 record across all competitions against the Dynamo. The most recent match came back in 2023 when the two sides squared off in the Group Stage of Leagues Cup. The match ended in a 1-1 draw with Duncan McGuire finding the back of the net for the Lions. Orlando would go on to win the end-of-regulation shootout, going a perfect 5-5 from the penalty spot after Houston missed its first penalty kick.

Avoiding the Cupset

Orlando City SC booked its place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night, earning a 1–0 victory over FC Naples. The Lions entered Wednesday's match with a heavily rotated lineup featuring nine changes from their previous outing, including the first-ever starts for defender Zakaria Taifi and forwards Justin Ellis and Yutaro Tsukada. Orlando City opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Tyrese Spicer took a touch before unleashing a powerful long-range strike that proved to be the night’s decisive moment. The victory sets up a match against the New England Revolution to be played on either April 29.

Spic(y)er Goal

The goal for Tyrese Spicer against FC Naples in the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup marked his first of the 2026 campaign and his third all time for the Lions across all competitions. The former No. 1 draft pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft joined the Lions last season with his most recent goal coming against the Chicago Fire back in the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs. Midfielder Braian Ojeda provided the assist on the Spicer opener, recording his first for Orlando City since joining the club this offseason.

Marco No Polo

As the Lions return back to regular season play with their match against Houston, Orlando is coming off a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the road against the Columbus Crew. In the team’s last regular season match, forward Marco Pašalić found the back of the net in the 14th minute, bagging his second goal of the 2026 season and his 17th across all competitions while donning the Lion kit. Tiago, a U22 initiative player, earned the assist on the goal, serving as his first in MLS.

The Swede’s Return

The Columbus game marked the return from injury of captain Robin Jansson. The Swede is Orlando City’s most-capped and longest-serving player ever, sporting 239 appearances and over 21,000 minutes in all competitions for the club. After conceding a league-record 16 goals across their previous three road games, Orlando did not allow a single goal in Jansson’s 78 minutes on Sunday.

Milestone Tracker:

-Duncan McGuire’s next goal will be his 32nd for Orlando City in all competitions, passing former captain Nani for fourth all-time

-Martín Ojeda is one start away from 100 in his Orlando City career in all competitions
