Everything you need to know for the Lions' final regular-season home match in "The Road Ahead" driven by Audi:

Milestones

- Martín Ojeda’s next goal, his 21st of 2025, will set a new single-season record for Orlando City in all competitions, surpassing Facundo Torres’ 20-goal haul in 2024. Ojeda would also tie Cyle Larin’s 17-goal 2015 for the most goals scored in an MLS regular season in club history.

- Ojeda is two assists away from achieving the first 20/20 season in club history. Two goal contributions of any kind would give Ojeda 40 combined goals and assists for the season across all competitions.

- Duncan McGuire’s next goal will be his 30th for Orlando City in all competitions. McGuire is two goals away from tying Nani for fourth in club history at 31 goals.

- Pedro Gallese is two appearances away from 200 in all competitions for Orlando City.

Stats & Storylines

- Orlando City earned a result for the fourth consecutive match last weekend, drawing Columbus 1-1 at Inter&Co Stadium. Marco Pašalić scored his 15th goal in all competitions this season, putting the Croatian three behind Cyle Larin for the most in a debut season in Orlando City history. Pedro Gallese made five saves, bringing him to 13 over his past two matches.

- Originally slated for August 30, this weekend’s game against the Vancouver Whitecaps was moved to the October international break due to Orlando City’s run in Leagues Cup. Seven first team Lions have been called to represent their countries during this window – Alex Freeman (United States), Marco Pašalić (Croatia), David Brekalo (Slovenia), Tyrese Spicer (Trinidad & Tobago), Gustavo Caraballo, Javier Otero (both Venezuela), and Colin Guske (United States U-19) – as well as Justin Ellis (United States U-19) from Orlando City B.

- Ascending star Freeman will be appearing for the United States for the third consecutive time after starring at the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup and playing a full 90 at right wingback in the USMNT’s 2-0 win over Japan in September. Freeman is the only natural right back on the roster for the October matches against Ecuador (Friday in Austin, TX) and Australia (next Tuesday in Commerce City, CO).

- The Lions have clinched a spot in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs, but their seeding remains up in the air. Orlando can still finish anywhere from fourth through ninth in the Eastern Conference depending on its own results and those of the teams around them in the table. City needs three points over its last two games to guarantee at least a seventh place finish, meaning it won’t face the winner-take-all Wild Card Match on October 22.

- Attacking midfielder Martín Ojeda has failed to get on the scoresheet in either of the Lions’ past two matches, the first time he has gone two consecutive league games without a goal or an assist since May 18-24. Ojeda remains fifth in MLS in total goal contributions with 30, behind Lionel Messi (41), Anders Dreyer (35), Denis Bouanga (32), and Evander (31).

Meet the opponent: Vancouver Whitecaps

- Orlando City is set to face the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday for the first time since April 20, 2019, a span of 2,366 days. Robin Jansson and Kyle Smith are the only Lions still on the roster from that match, a 1-0 win in which an 88th minute Sacha Kljestan strike deflected off Nani and into the back of the net for Orlando’s first and only win against Vancouver. The Whitecaps are one of two sides Oscar Pareja has never faced as Orlando City head coach, along with 2025 expansion team San Diego FC.

- Vancouver has enjoyed a historic season, earning a club record 60 points, reaching the final of the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup, and winning its fourth consecutive Canadian Championship. The Whitecaps are guaranteed to finish top of the Western Conference if they win their final two matches.

- Players headed to represent their countries who won’t be with the Whitecaps this weekend include star defensive midfielder Andrés Cubas (Paraguay), starting wingers Ali Ahmed and Jayden Nelson (Canada), striker Rayan Elloumi (Tunisia U-23), and midfielder Kenji Cabrera (Peru). United States midfielder Sebastian Berhalter was not called in for the October camp and should be available. The Whitecaps are also expected to be without starting center backs Ranko Veselinović and Tristan Blackmon, both of whom are recovering from knee injuries, as well as striker Brian White, who is dealing with a hamstring problem.

- In addition to Berhalter, the Caps will bring superstar summer signing Thomas Müller, a legend for both Bayern Munich and the German national team who has claimed a staggering 35 career trophies for club and country, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup, two UEFA Champions Leagues, and 13 Bundesliga titles. Müller already has 5g/3a in just 361 MLS minutes, though three of his five goals have come via penalty kick.

- Vancouver has also received a huge lift with DP attacker Ryan Gauld’s return from injury. Gauld appeared late in the Canadian Championship final on October 1, then made his first MLS appearance in seven months this past weekend against San Jose. The Scottish international had 17g/16a in 41 appearances across all competitions in 2024, including five goals in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
