Stats & Storylines
- Orlando Cityās 12-game regular season unbeaten run came to a shocking end on Wednesday night, as the Lions conceded twice after going down to 10 men following CĆ©sar AraĆŗjoās 77th-minute red card and fell 3-2 at rival Atlanta United. The game marked Orlandoās first league loss since March 8 and the first time they trailed in an MLS game since March 29.
- Head coach Oscar Pareja was also sent off by referee Filip Dujic in the aftermath of AraĆŗjoās red, Papiās second-ever red card with Orlando City. His first came in the 2023 CONCACAF Champions Cup (nĆ©e League) against Tigres UANL. Pareja and AraĆŗjo will be suspended for Saturdayās match with Chicago.
- On the plus side, striker Ramiro Enrique continued his strong month of May, pouncing on a mistake by Atlanta center back Derrick Williams to score his fourth goal in his last seven appearances dating back to May 7. Enrique has found the back of the net in each of his three May starts.
- DPs Marco PaÅ”aliÄ and MartĆn Ojeda both garnered assists on AraĆŗjoās opening goal, bringing Orlando Cityās Designated Players to 33 combined goal contributions through 18 matches in all competitions. Ojedaās assist was his 28th for Orlando City in all competitions.
- The Lions return to Inter&Co Stadium this weekend, where they have been dominant in league play this season. Orlando is 5-0-2 with a +11 goal differential over its past seven MLS regular-season home matches. MartĆn Ojeda has scored six times over those seven contests, including his historic hat trick on May 10 against New England.

Meet the opponent: Chicago Fire FC
- Orlando City will look to bounce back this weekend against a team theyāve enjoyed hosting over the past several seasons. The Lions are a perfect 5-0-0 with a +9 goal differential at home against the Chicago Fire under Oscar Pareja, scoring 13 goals across the five matches. Luis Muriel and IvĆ”n Angulo found the back of the net in last yearās 4-2 win at Inter&Co Stadium.
- The Lions and Fire played to a 0-0 draw earlier this month at Soldier Field. Pedro Gallese was immense in goal for Orlando, making multiple highlight reel saves in the first 20 minutes before Chicagoās attack was stunted by a late first half red card to goalkeeper Chris Brady. Despite playing the second half up a man, the Lions were unable to find a winner.
- Chicago will also be short-handed in midfield on Saturday. Starting No. 10 Brian GutiĆ©rrez (5 G/1 A this season) was shown red in the Fireās 3-1 loss at New York City last Sunday, meaning he will be suspended for the Orlando game. Dje DāAvilla was also sent off later in the match, but his red card was rescinded upon review and he will be available for Chicago on Saturday.
- The Fire sport one of the better attacks in MLS, led by their big three of Hugo Cuypers (8 G/2 A), Jonathan Bamba (2 G/6 A), and Philip Zinckernagel (5 G/4 A). Cuypers scored twice against Orlando City in 2024. Zinckernagel has been the most in-form of the three, scoring in each of his past three matches in all competitions.
