Stats & Storylines
- Orlando City destroyed D.C. United in superlative fashion on Saturday night, winning 4-1 while scoring the immediate AT&T MLS Goal of the Year frontrunner. Just 72 hours after becoming the club’s all-time goals leader, MartÃn Ojeda finished off a scintillating team play with a scorpion kick finish for the Lions’ second of four goals on the night. Ojeda ended the night with 1g/1a and is up to 16g/5a in all competitions in 2026. The Argentine has 5g/2a in his last six matches in all competitions.
- Antoine Griezmann continued his pushes for both MLS Newcomer of the Year and Best XI recognition on Saturday night, producing 2g/1a to bring his 2026 MLS totals to 12g/7a in just 14 matches. Griezmann is producing 1.38 goals and assists per 90 minutes in the MLS regular season, second in the league behind Lionel Messi (1.53).
- Orlando has scored multiple goals in seven consecutive MLS regular season matches, putting 20 in the back of the net in that span, including 10 in three games since the international break. Only two teams (Philadelphia, 43; St. Louis, 40) have scored more goals than Orlando’s 35 in MLS regular season play since the World Cup.
- The Lions’ playoff outlook improved considerably on Matchday 31. Both FC Cincinnati and Red Bull New York lost, meaning the Lions have a five-point cushion on the Wild Card Match. Meanwhile, above Orlando, Philadelphia and Charlotte drew while Chicago fell to New England, giving City a chance to push for a higher seed if it can earn more points over its final four matches.

Meet the opponent: New York City FC
- With Antoine Griezmann and MartÃn Ojeda in scorching form, Orlando City has a chance to beat NYCFC for the first time since 2022. The Lions have gone eight straight games without a win against the Pigeons, including a brutal 5-0 defeat back on March 7. Saturday’s match will be the 30th all-time meeting between the 2015 inaugural brethren.
- While Orlando has risen up the table since the World Cup, NYCFC have gone into a tailspin. The Pigeons have won just once in their last 13 MLS regular season matches, most recently drawing LAFC 1-1 at Citi Field last weekend. New York City is 12th in the East on 34 points, two points back of the playoff line and seven behind Orlando.Â
- Despite its recent struggles, NYCFC features one of the most dangerous attackers in MLS in Nico Fernández Mercau, who has produced 15g/9a leading New York’s front line. The Pigeons also recently welcomed back Costa Rica international striker Alonso MartÃnez, who scored 33 goals over the 2024 and 2025 MLS seasons before tearing his ACL on international duty last November.
- With Robin Jansson out injured, no active Orlando City player has ever scored a goal against NYCFC. Ojeda does have three assists against New York in seven games.
