- With a clean sheet on Saturday, Orlando City would record three straight shutouts for the first time since its club-record five in a row from April 5-May 3, 2025. The Lions have had a run of three consecutive clean sheets in MLS play just twice in their history, accomplishing the feat for the first time from August 31-September 18, 2024.
- Iván Angulo is one assist away from becoming the third player in club history to reach 40 assists in all competitions for Orlando City.

- Orlando City scalped another top opponent last weekend, taking down Supporters’ Shield-leading Nashville SC 1-0 in front of a sold-out Inter.co Stadium. Tyrese Spicer recorded his fifth goal contribution as a substitute in all competitions in 2026 off a throughball from Justin Ellis, who has three assists in two matches since Orlando returned to play from the World Cup break.
- While Antoine Griezmann did not get on the scoresheet in his home debut, the French legend was a menace on and off the ball. Griezmann led all Orlando players in distance covered for the game, running 6.72 miles across his second 90-minute stint in a 72-hour span, while hitting two key passes and recording two tackles and six ball recoveries. Griezmann also led Orlando City in distance covered across both of his appearances so far.
- The Lions’ back line, which shipped a league-high 44 goals across the first half of the season, has now shut out two of the best teams in Major League Soccer in back-to-back matches. MLS All-Star Maxime Crépeau has recorded 10 saves across the two games, while center back pairing Robin Jansson and David Brekalo have scored more goals (one, Brekalo) than they’ve allowed (zero).Â
- Crépeau was a hit at the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge on Tuesday night, winning the annual Goalie Wars competition. The Canadian No. 1 defeated his USMNT counterpart Matt Freese in the semifinals before taking down Houston Dynamo 2’s Pedro Cruz in the final.Â
- While the 35-year-old Griezmann has reignited Orlando City with his signing, the Lions have supplemented the veteran with youth from their top-ranked academy. The Nashville game marked the first time Orlando started three teenagers in an MLS match, with 19 year-old striker Ellis joined by 19 year-old defensive midfielder LuÃs Otávio and 18-year-old left back Bernardo Rhein. Ellis was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday, while interim head coach MartÃn Perelman was selected as the week’s best coach. Rhein had signed a Homegrown deal with Orlando City earlier on Saturday before earning his first MLS start and playing a vital role in shutting down Hany Mukhtar and the high-powered Nashville SC attack.

Meet the opponent: Red Bull New York
- Orlando City owes Red Bull New York a host of receipts, having not defeated RBNY since a season sweep back in 2023. The Lions fell 2-1 in this season’s home opener back on February 21, with teenager Julian Hall scoring a brace after earning a surprise start over Designated Player Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting. Hall has since enjoyed a breakout season, scoring nine goals and earning a spot on the MLS All-Star team.
- New York went into the World Cup break on a 3-0-1 stretch, but the side has been unable to keep that momentum into the summer. RBNY has dropped its first two results since the tournament, losing 3-1 at Philadelphia and then 2-0 at home to Charlotte. Red Bull has slipped to eighth in the Eastern Conference table, just two points ahead of Orlando City, meaning the Lions would pass RBNY with a win.
- The Lions have actually had better luck at Sports Illustrated Stadium than at home against RBNY in recent years, going 2-1-1 in four visits to Harrison, New Jersey since 2022. Orlando and New York played to a thrilling 2-2 draw in last season’s fixture, with MartÃn Ojeda and Marco PaÅ¡alić both finding the back of the net for the Lions.
