1. A wild game from start to finish, after scoring two goals in two minutes, then conceding two straight, Orlando City SC managed to pull out a late game-winner as the Lions took all three points against Nashville SC.
2. It was a bit of a revenge match for the Lions, who lost twice to Nashville this year, once in the U.S. Open Cup back in May then last month in Tennessee.
3. It was a close contest for both teams, and it took a good half hour before the first goal was scored. Orlando Head Coach Oscar Pareja talked a bit about it following the game and just how tough it was to break the deadlock, but ultimately that first goal was a special moment for the Lions, and especially Martín Ojeda.
4. After Luis Muriel earned a free kick from about 34 yards outside the box, Ojeda lined up to take the free kick. It had been just over a month since the Lions' No. 10 scored a goal in league play, so it was no surprise that he was hungry to get back on the scoresheet. It was a beautiful strike from Ojeda, who curled his left foot around the ball, firing the strike towards the right near post. The ball kissed off the post, beating Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis and getting Orlando a much-needed goal.
5. That goal was also a milestone moment for Martín, who became the Club's all-time leader in goal contributions, surpassing Facundo Torres with 73. It keeps the special season for the Lions attacking lynchpin going.
6. Ojeda wasn't happy with sitting on his laurels with just one goal, however. Just two minutes later, the Argentine was the recipient of good interplay between Kyle Smith and Muriel, as he fired a shot in the box just past the fingertips of Joe Willis to give the Lions a commanding lead in the match. The goal, his 16th of the season, which added to his 14 assists, made him the first player in Club history to have a 30-goal contribution season.
7. As things looked to be firing on all cylinders, Orlando took their foot off the gas as the first half came to an end. Hany Mukhtar, who has been a Lion killer his entire career, managed to get a shot away that clanged off the post and right back into his path, getting Nashville on the board. That momentum for the visitors carried over into the second half, as substitute Jacob Shaffleberg was able to equalize just a few minutes into the second half. It was a tough moment to swallow for the Orlando defense, but it not deter the team as the game wore on.
8. The Lions continued to fight as the game wore on, but as it crept into the final minutes of stoppage time, it looked like the game would finish tied. In the final minute of minimum stoppage time, Tyrese Spicer pushed past the defensive line and delivered a near-post cross to Duncan McGuire, who redirected the ball past Willis to ultimately score the game-winning goal. It was a moment for the Lions and for McGuire that was desperately needed. For Duncan's sake, it's his first goal since May 24, after battling back from shoulder surgery that kept him out over three months. For Orlando, it was ultimately the goal that leapfrogged the team over Nashville and into seventh.
9. Now the Lions will take this momentum into next week as the team goes on the road for another crucial playoff seeding matchup. T Lions will head to Ohio to take on FC Cincinnati. That match will kick off at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 28.
