ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 8, 2026) – Orlando City SC has loaned forward Nicolás Rodríguez to Atlético Nacional S.A. of Colombia’s Liga BetPlay Dimayor through the end of 2026 with an option to buy, the Club announced today. If Atlético Nacional exercises the purchase option, the Lions will retain a future sell-on percentage of the winger. With the loan, Orlando City frees up one of its U22 Initiative spots for the 2026 season.
“This move gives Nico the opportunity to earn consistent playing time while also opening up one of our U22 Initiative spots for 2026 while he’s away,” Orlando City General Manager & Sporting Director Ricardo Moreira said. “We believe this is a great chance for him to further his development at a Colombian giant, while providing us more flexibility for our roster in 2026.”
Since joining the Lions as a U22 Initiative player from Colombia’s Fortaleza C.E.I.F., Rodríguez has made four starts in 17 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist. The San José del Guaviare, Colombia, native also made one start in two appearances for Orlando City B during the Lions’ 2025 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.
