ORLANDO, Fla. (July 6, 2024) – Orlando City SC forward Duncan McGuire has been selected to represent the United States of America at the 2024 Paris Olympics, it was announced today, being named to the tournament roster by Head Coach Marko Mitrović.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will be the first time the USMNT has appeared in the competition in 16 years, having last qualified for the Olympics in 2008 in Beijing. Since Men’s Olympic soccer became an Under-23 competition ahead of the 1992 summer games in Barcelona, the U.S. U-23's best finish at the Olympics was a fourth-place finish in the 2000 games in Sydney.

After being selected No. 6 overall by the Lions in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, McGuire has scored 23 goals and provided four assists across all competitions for Orlando City. The 23-year-old forward ranks sixth on the Club’s all-time scoring list and is just one goal away from tying former Lion Dom Dwyer (24) for fifth and two goals shy of tying Club legend Kaká (25) for fourth all-time.

The Omaha, Nebraska native is the first Lion in Club history to represent Orlando City at the Olympics.

The United States have been drawn into Group A, set to face Olympic hosts France on July 24, New Zealand on July 27 and Guinea on July 30 in the Group Stage.
