KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Sept. 9, 2018) ā Orlando City SC (7-17-3, 24 points) lost 1-0 at Sporting Kansas City (14-7-6, 48 points) on Saturday at Childrenās Mercy Park.
āIn any game when you get chances like that, we have to take them. Especially first half, if we go 1-nil up it can really affect the outcome of the game,ā Lions head coach James OāConnor said. āThe big moments are something we need to do a better job of managing. We need to capitalize on our chances and limit their chances.ā
OāConnor started Joe Bendik in goal and captain Jonathan Spector, Carlos Ascues, Shane OāNeill and Scott Sutter on the back line. Uri Rosell, Will Johnson, Sacha Kljestan, Chris Mueller and Cristian Higuita started in the midfield with Dom Dwyer up top.
After a scoreless first half, Sporting found the eventual game-winner in the 53rd minute when Yohan Croizet found Felipe GutiƩrrez.
JosuƩ ColmƔn replaced Mueller in the 65th minute and StƩfano Pinho came on for Johnson in the 80th.
The Lions visit the Chicago Fire on Sept. 16 for a 5 p.m. ET kickoff. The Lions return to Orlando City Stadium to host the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
