In the first match of a four-game road trip, Orlando City SC (8-12-7, 31 points) fell, 4-0, to the New England Revolution (9-12-5, 32 points) Saturday at Gillette Stadium. Dillon Powers made his first start for Orlando City.
āI think we have to be extremely discouraged and disappointed. Another game where things are going okay, working in and around their penalty box, creating a few chances and then we allow the goal and then we have some more chances and we donāt finish,ā Lions head coach Jason Kreis said. āThen to allow the second goal and the ejection, you pretty much know the night is dead. I donāt think the game was a 4-0 game by any stretch of the imagination but thatās what happens when youāre 2-0 down and you suffer an ejection.ā
This match was originally scheduled to be played on March 11 but was postponed due to extreme cold in New England. The match was also part of MLS WORKSā fourth-annual Kick Childhood Cancer campaign and New England Revolutionās Concussion Awareness Night.
Kreis came out with Donny Toia, LƩo Pereira, JosƩ Aja and Scott Sutter on his starting back line; Antonio Nocerino, Powers, Giles Barnes and captain KakƔ at midfield; and Carlos Rivas and Dom Dwyer at striker. Joe Bendik made his 61st consecutive MLS start for City.
Kei Kamara scored the first of his three goals in the 26th minute and scored twice more in the 75th and 89th minutes. Teal Bunbury made it 4-0 in stoppage time.
Orlando City was reduced to 10 men when Aja received a second yellow card in the 80th minute.
