PORTLAND, Ore. (July 18, 2019) - Orlando City SC (7-9-5, 26 points) battled to a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers (7-8-4, 24 points) on Thursday evening at Providence Park. With the draw, the Lions have now earned three-consecutive results on the road following a 2-2 draw at Philadelphia on July 6 and a 2-0 victory over Columbus at MAPFRE Stadium on June 29.
Santiago Patiño found the back of the net for the Lions in the match, scoring his second goal of 2019 in the 44th minute. Both of Patiño’s goals this season have come in City’s last three matches, with the Orlando native scoring his first professional goal against the Philadelphia Union on July 6.

The Lions took the lead with newcomer Robinho pouncing on a ball that looked to be going out of bounds and taking it down the right flank. The Brazilian midfielder crossed a ball across the face of goal that took a deflection off a Portland defender before falling to the foot of Santiago Patiño, who put it away for the first-time finish.

The Timbers leveled the match off a cross from Jorge Moreira from the right side that took a flick from the head of Brian Fernández before then finding the head of Jeremy Ebobisse, who snuck the ball inside of the far post.

- Santiago Patiño’s goal in the 44th minute served as his second of the season, now finding the back of the net in two of the Lions’ last three MLS contests. Patiño scored his first MLS goal on Sunday, July 6 on the road at the Philadelphia Union.
- Forward Robinho made his Orlando City debut on Thursday, appearing in the starting XI for the first time as a Lion. The Brazilian midfielder was acquired by the Lions via a trade with the Columbus Crew on July 11.
Goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh made his second start of the 2019 season. - The game served as a homecoming of sorts for Homegrown forward Benji Michel, who was a three-year player at the University of Portland. Michel finished his career at Portland with 31 goals over 53 appearances.
- Thursday’s match marked the second time in a five-day span that an Orlando team played at Providence Park. On Sunday, just days before the Lions faced the Timbers, the Orlando Pride played the Portland Thorns at the same venue - a match that saw the Pride fall 4-3 in stoppage time.
- With the draw the Lions have now earned points in each of their last three road matches and in four of their last five league matches overall.
