ocb kickers 2017 preview

After picking up a point in Cincinnati with a 2-2 draw, Orlando City B (5-6-10, 25 points) will travel to City Stadium to take on the Richmond Kickers (3-11-8, 17 points) on Saturday, Aug. 12. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

The match will be streamed at www.OrlandoCitySC.com/LIVE.

“It’s a really big game. I look at Richmond and I don’t really understand why they haven’t got more points,” OCB head coach Anthony Pulis said. “They’re a really good counter-attacking team. They’re well organized defensively and they’ve got a really dangerous front four. They’ve got pace, they’ve got power, they’ve got good movement and good technical ability so going in there, we know it’s going to be a really difficult game.”

OCB extended its unbeaten streak to seven games after a 2-2 draw against FC Cincinnati last Saturday night. Cincinnati opened the scoring early when Kyle Greig headed a wide cross from Josu. The Lions were able to level the scoring in the 14th minute when Austin Martz shot a volley from the top of the penalty area to record his first goal as a Lion. OCB took the lead in the 55th minute when Hadji Barry received a long ball from Tony Rocha and sent the ball straight into the net. The Lions maintained the advantage despite Cincinnati’s dangerous attacks but Danny Kogin equalized in the second minute of stoppage time.

The Richmond Kickers are coming off a 1-1 draw against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The team currently holds a 1-2-2 record in its last five games and is tied with Toronto FC with 17 points in the Eastern Conference standings. The Kickers are lead by Alhaji Kamara with four goals and Fred Owusu Sekyere with three assists.

This marks the third all-time meeting and the first of three meeting this season. In August 2016, OCB earned a 1-1 draw at home before falling 1-0 the following week.

Barry leads the team with four goals followed by Richie Laryea and Albert Dikwa with three goals each. Pierre Da Silva sits third in the league with six assists as well as Earl Edwards, Jr. with seven clean sheets.

OCB returns to Orlando City Stadium to host Ottawa Fury FC on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
