MLS Power Rankings: Orlando City Soar Up, Rapids, Crew Drop

Sundayā€™s victory against the New England Revolution lifted Orlando City five spots in the MLS Power Rankings. Orlando City find themselves ranked in the middle of the pack, and their three points have tied them with the Revolution for the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference, the final spot for the playoffs. 


Orlando City was lifted up by Midfielder Kevin Molinoā€™s stunning performance on Sunday, as he scored two goals and earned an assist to Cyle Larin. Brek Shea and KakĆ” were also powerful players on the pitch, lifting the team to their first victory in the month of July.

Around the league, FC Dallas are now ranked first in the league after a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps. The New York Red Bulls come in at second, rising three spots after a 2-2 draw against the Chicago Fire. New York City FC rose five spots, coming in at 6th place after a strong 5-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids in which Frank Lampard earned the teamā€™s first ever hat trick.


The Rapids fell two spots to third after their loss to NYCFC. The Portland Timbers fell three spots after losing 1-0 to Sporting KC. And the Columbus Crew came in at the bottom of the table, dropping two spots after losing 3-0 to Toronto FC. The Crew are in desperation mode as they try to salvage some points at the end of the season.
